The Plank-A-Day Challenge in Our Ugly Christmas Sweaters
My co-workers and I are doing this Plank A Day thing. Don’t get this confused with planking, which is so over.
The Plank A Day Revolution is a really simple movement: Do one plank every day, and try to get better at it.
Ali, Lauren, Cara, Sarah, Noreen and I are all on board. We started earlier this week. It’s fun, because you see improvement quickly and planks are crazy good for your core.
The second Friday in December is usually a big day at our office. It’s the Ugly Christmas Sweater Party day (a charity event that my friends and I put together for Operation Breakthrough). Our company lets everyone wear ugly sweaters and decorate their desks. It’s festive.
Lauren, Ali and I hadn’t yet done our daily planks, and we really needed to get them in before the sweater party. We decided to plank in our cubicle area, since it would only take four minutes or so.
We were only two minutes in when OF COURSE our boss comes upstairs. HE NEVER COMES UPSTAIRS TO OUR CUBICLES. We were caught planking red handed. Our punishment was a serious roll of the eyes and him saying to a new employee “People do work around here, believe it or not.” Pshhhh.
